IT Helpdesk: fix it yourself first
The four tickets that eat most of support time, with the checks to run before you call anyone. Five minutes here saves a day in the queue.
How to ask for help
When self-help fails, make your ticket answerable in one round: what you did, the exact error text, what changed recently, and one screenshot. «Does not work» waits in the queue; a ticket with steps, error and time gets an engineer.
What support will ask anyway
Have these ready before calling: your username and machine name, whether colleagues are affected (one machine vs everyone changes the diagnosis completely), and whether you already rebooted. Answering these up front skips the scripted half of every support call.
